                                   BECOME A CATHOLIC

If you know a friend, relative or family member who might be interested in
becoming a Catholic, why not encourage him or her to seriously consider
contacting the parish to discuss full communion with the Catholic Church.

Have the person call the rectory and ask for Father Muldowney

Inquirers will be graciously welcomed and the initial discussion will focus on a
description of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

Share your faith and be an evangelizer.

Don’t hesitate to suggest to friends or relatives that full membership in the
Catholic Faith will enrich one’s life and lead to eternal life.

                                      WHAT IS  R.C.I.A.?

WHAT?
RCIA, which stands for The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a
catechetical process through which non-baptized men and women enter
the Catholic Church. It included several stages marked by study, prayer and
rites at Mass. They focus their life toward God as they learn Scripture,
profess faith in Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, and receive the
sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. The RCIA process
follows the ancient practice of the Church and was restored as the normal
way adults prepare for Baptism.

WHO?
While RCIA was primarily instituted for those individuals who were never
baptized, RCIA has been adapted and included those who have not
completed the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.
RCIA is for:

Unbaptized individuals who recognize a need for spirituality.

Catholics who are baptized, but may not have received the Sacraments of
Eucharist or Confirmation.

Those baptized into another Christian religion, but desire to become Catholic.
This may include someone married to a Catholic, attends Mass, but doesn't
know what the next step is to become one of the Catholic faithful.

WHEN?
Inquiries into the RCIA are open at all times. Please call Father Muldowney
if you are interested in learning more about the RCIA program.
The RCIA formation process is completed on Pentecost.

HOW?
Small group instruction is provided. The Instruction centers on the Sunday
Scripture Readings and weekly topics are presented for discussion about
the Catholic Faith. There is time for questions, prayer, and fellowship. RCIA
is very much like a journey which will help you to focus your life toward
God. If you or anyone you know is interested and would like information
about the next RCIA program, which begins in September, please call
Father Muldowney.
